I hope all of you stayed safe and dry during Hurricane Irma. Since we missed two days of school, the teachers are working hard to rearrange and reschedule the curriculum.
First of all, our Unit 1 math test will be on Thursday and Friday, September 21st and 22nd. A study guide will go home in your child's Thursday folder. Over the next week, work with your child to complete it. The guide does not have to be returned to school.
In addition, please be sure to sign and return all quizzes and tests. I am required to keep them on file at the school for 1 year after your child leaves my classroom.
During September 18th - 29th there can be no visitors at New Prospect due to ITBS Testing for grades 3-5. If your child's birthday falls in these dates and you would like to bring cupcakes (or another treat), you can bring them to the front office before school begins or send them with your child. Please email me if you have any questions.
Also, I failed to mention this at open house. If you would like to send a treat on your child's birthday, please email me. This way, I know when to expect it. This treat is completely optional! In the spring, we have 3 birthdays on the same day. We can arrange it so that it will not be sugar overload. Likewise, If your child's birthday falls on a school holiday, we can work together to reschedule.
This week (or what's left of it) is College Week! We want all of our students to be college ready when they graduate from high school. In class, we will be introducing the concept and talking about college. Do you have a favorite college team? If so, on Friday, please have your child wear a shirt supporting that team. If not, have your child wear any team jersey from any sport.
We have library time on September 19th. If your child has library books at home, please bring them back so that he or she can check out more.
Please be sure to sign your child's agenda every night!
