We had fun last week with all the activities planned! I was voted "the best teacher ever" for the How To Make the Perfect Cookie activity. Of course, the students didn't know that I didn't write that lesson; another great teacher did.
Some of the students' library books are overdue. We do not have a scheduled library lesson until after the book fair. I can send the students individually or in groups to return/check out books during the day.
We have a new online resource available called iReady. Originally, we thought that iRead was for Kindergarten through 2nd grade and iReady was for 3rd through 8th grade. We found out last week that this was not true. So now, you can take advantage of this program. Additionally, in iReady I can make special assignments (Not mandatory unless you want them to be for your child.) that directly correlate to what we are learning in the classroom. I have already created one for this week's phonics skill. It will be the blue square labeled extra lesson. To access iReady, go to the NPES website, hover on the "students" tab. In the drop down box, choose Launchpad and sign in (iRead and Redbird are also in here.). Click on the iReady icon.

Events this week
Tuesday, October 31st - Book Character Dress Up Day
Dress up as your favorite book character! If at all possible, bring the book that your character is from. Please keep these guidelines in mind:
1. costume only; no masks or accessories (props), gloves stay at home
2. wear it to school; wear it all day
3. nothing scary or bloody
Friday, November 3rd - Pops, Pizza, and Hoops
This is our Watchdog Dads kick-off event. Students can bring dad, grandfather, uncle, father figure (or even mom) to shoot hoops and enjoy pizza. This is free, however we ask that you RSVP so that the coordinators will know how much pizza to order.
THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
Our book fair starts on November 6th and ends on November 17th at 11:00 am.
Our Book Preview Day is on November 7th from 9:30 - 10:00 am. This is where we look at the books and make a wish list. Don't send money!
Our Book Buying Day is on Friday, November 10th from 1:30 - 2:00. Please send any money for books in an envelope or Zip-loc labeled with your child's name, my name, and book fair.
